Edinburgh based company J & W Hardie were founded in 1857 by James Hardie, and began as Tea blender and wine merchant.
The next logical step for the company was whisky blending, and The Antiquary brand was born in 1888, taking it's name from the Walter Scott novel.
Still going strong, the malt heavy blend received an impressive 92 points in Jim Murray's 2013 Whisky Bible.
No ABV or volume stated however although stated scotch whisky, at the time the term 'liqueur' was used to prescribe alcohol.
