A bottle of Ye Old Hudson's Bay Jamaica Rum, bottled in the UK by Hudson's Bay Company.
This was bottled for NAAFI stores for HM Forces, we estimate in the 1970s.
The Hudson's Bay Company was incorporated on 2 May 1670 as The Governor & Company of Adventurers of England Trading into Hudson's Bay, with a royal charter from King Charles II.
It gained a monopoly in the fur trade and was at one point the largest land owner in the world. Later, it began importing spirits into the Hudson Bay area and is known for its 'Best Procurable' brand of Scotch whisky.
The earliest reference to rum in the company records is from 24 May 1775, when two casks containing 30 gallons of rum were shipped to the Hudson's Bay Company on its own ship, 'Sea Horse'.
There is no ABV stated on the label.
